“It will be a wondrous night to take flight,”
The girl said, eyes gleaming with light
Anticipation rising, mind carefully devising
Her uprising into the white
The sky drowsily admired, but sat quite tired
Waiting and waiting for the night
The noise had all gone, and the color the same
A blank slate of sky, blankly inspired
“Tonight is the night,”
She said, securing her cap
Eyes closed, teeth clenched,
Arms strapped, “initiate flap.”
A gap beneath her cried out
Ignoring the physics, redoubt
Not keeping her down
Uprising, laws revising
Wings outstretched, wind stressed
Feet leaving the ground
Tenets unrest and the impossible addressed
A new engineer had been found
